Connie Kittok the artist:
I am a native of New Orleans who relocated to the north shore about 25 years ago. I now call the small town of Ponchatoula, Louisiana home. My husband Michael and my two beautiful kids, Katherine and Austin are my biggest art critics. I guess you could say I was born with the desire to be an artist. Even at an early age I remember creating art projects that were a little different than other kids my age and getting lost in the process for hours. The art thing is something I think you are born with and you just can’t help but go with it. I graduated from Delgado Community college with a degree in commercial art and continued my art education at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. I have worked my whole adult life in a corporate environment. I am presently in marketing working for a local real estate firm. I find painting a way to escape the structured corporate world. I have what you might call a free style with wide strokes in my painting techniques. I always incorporate different material to add texture to my paintings. I like to add a 3D effect to the look of my art by adding a backdrop for the art to bounce off giving it depth. The subjects I choose to paint are usually something that calls me back to my Louisiana roots. I feel I have to express myself thought my art so I do so while painting scenes and memories from my beloved hometown New Orleans. A few of my favorite subjects are music, food, historical sites and the people that make the city what it is. Hope you enjoy!
